A GIANT IS BORN
In 1902 the Madrid Football Club was founded. In 1920 the King Alfonso XII awarded the Club with the title of 'Real' (Royal). 4 years later, the field of Chamartín, the first Madrid stadium, was inaugurated. Meanwhile, Santiago Bernabeu, a forward player, had joined the team. Later on, he became the Club's President. In 1943, Real Madrid won the Cup of Generalisimo as well as other trophies. In 1956 Real Madrid conquered their first European Champions Cup. From that moment on, 12 years of constant trophies would come.
In 1978 Santiago Bernabéu died, President of Real Madrid for 35 years.
